「Yet」

  • 「我還不會」,代表未來還有進步的空間;
  • 「我還沒成功」,意味著繼續努力便有可能達到;

Unleashing Talents, Striving for Progress

Last year, under the theme “Riding the Wind and Soaring to Growth”, we witnessed students breaking through their own limits again and again: some journeyed from the school theatre to the professional stage; others triumphed with a gold medal in a territory-wide science competition; still others traveled overseas to dragon boat races, representing Hong Kong and achieving remarkable results.

All these vividly embody the spirit of “riding the wind”, when facing difficulties, do not retreat; when facing challenges, dare to move forward. As Thomas Edison once said, “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” This spirit deserves to be carried forward as we enter the new school year.

“Unleashing Talents” — Know Yourself, Dare to Shine

Each person is unique. Language, science, arts, sports, interpersonal skills, leadership—every talent is a gift. The key is: are you willing to courageously express it? Steve Jobs once remarked, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” True potential shines only when fueled by passion.

Do not fear failure, for every stumble is an opportunity to unlock your brilliance.

“Striving for Progress” — Learn Diligently, Advance Step by Step

Talent without hard work is like an unpolished sword—it cannot be sharp. The path of learning is never easy: math problems may be tough, English vocabulary may not stick, history timelines may feel endless. Yet remember the *Power of “Yet”*: what you cannot do today does not mean you will never achieve it.

The word “yet” transforms setbacks into hope:

  • “I can’t do it yet” means there is room to grow;
  • “I haven’t succeeded yet” means persistence may bring achievement;
  • “I’m still learning” is the true mark of growth.

So when you face challenges, replace “I can’t” with “I can’t yet.” Every act of persistence becomes the foundation of future success.

May our Mingchoians, in this new academic year, show your strengths boldly, strive for excellence unceasingly, shine your own light—and illuminate the path for others.
