The BFG is a novel about an orphan girl named Sophie who befriends a kind, 24-foot-tall giant.

In the story, Sophie, the small orphan girl, and the Big Friendly Giant are very different. Sophie is tiny and human, while the BFG is huge and blows sweet dreams into children’s bedrooms. On their own, neither of them can stop the scary, man-eating giants. Sophie is too small, and the BFG is too afraid.
However, when they team up, everything changes. Sophie comes up with a clever plan, and the BFG uses his amazing speed to carry her to the Queen of England. By working together—and uniting with the Queen and her army—they trick and trap the bad giants, making the world safe again. This story shows us that when we combine our different strengths, we can solve big problems that we cannot solve alone.
